Final EP session: big grins, blue sky and a project that finally feels ready

In April this year, I took a moment to thank friend and BBC Award winning Scottish Singer/Songwriter, Adam Holmes, for being instrumental in bringing my Debut EP, Sense of Soul, to life.

Getting started is often the hardest step—showing up with some complete and half-formed songs, being open, and letting someone in on what you're trying to say—but from the very beginning Adam just ‘got it’ and made that feel possible.

From those early sessions working through raw ideas, to shaping them into something honest but also more ambiguous, he understood what I was aiming for (often before I did!)

Four of those tracks made it onto the EP, and I'll always hold on to the ups (like hearing Innocent Railways for the first time and going ‘hell yeah’) and downs (cue rocking up late on several occasions due to my latest ailment) along the way that made this even more of a big beautiful challenge.

I'm really grateful for his guidance, patience, friendship and instinct throughout this whole process—it means a lot.

Shout out to Cameron Phair, aka Venus as a Boy, who also put up with me for a full day getting the vocals just right in his North Berwick studio and giving me space to ‘feel’ the lyrics in the process.

Sense of Soul will be released first to Kickstarter backers. I'm excited (and a little nervous) to come full circle and share it with you soon.

But I know all the hard work will make it worth it.

See you on the other side,
Lx
